Here are some tips and tricks to get that perfect Red Lip
The biggest tip to applying any lipstick is to make sure you have a clean smooth surface. The best way to exfoliate your lips is to use a sugar scrub. You can make your own with a little sugar and honey. Just dab a drop of honey on your finger and sprinkle a little sugar on it to create a paste. Rub the paste on your lips and rub your lips back and forth a few times. Gently remove with water.
Dry, flaky lips are sure to ruin your day and your classic red look. After you exfoliate your lips, be sure to apply your favorite lip balm or moisturizing lip oil. Also, make sure you are always drinking plenty of water during the day. Your skin and body will thank you. An average person should be getting 64 oz. of water a day.
Give time for the lip balm to moisturize and blend into your lips by doing your face and eye makeup before applying color to your lips.
Keep that red from bleeding! The biggest trick with any deeply pigmented color on our lips is keeping it in place as we go throughout the day. Lining your lips with a high-quality lip liner will give you a nice crisp line and keep the color from bleeding. As we age we have wrinkles around our lips and the color tends to sneak into those cracks and cause our lipstick to wander. A good lip liner can keep that from happening. You can use lip liner to outline your lips or use it to fill in your entire lip for a nice matte look that will last all day.
Shine’s lip liner daring is the perfect shade of red. You can sharpen it to get a nice point for precise lining. When applying it goes on smooth and creamy and you will have a few minutes to blend and clean up the edges. Once the liner is set its waterproof, smudge proof and will stay in place all day.
Using a liner brush to apply lipstick or lip gloss can help you get a nice thin layer of color and allow you to get more precise.
Shine’s liner/shader brush is perfect for this type of application. It has an angled tip so that you can make a sharp precise line but can also lay it flat to smooth across your lips. All of Shine’s brushes are made with a patent-pending design that offers all the benefits of an animal hair brush but with cruelty-free synthetic fibers. This allows you to get the most out of your makeup by eliminating the waste lost in a typical synthetic fiber brush.
Matte or gloss?
It really is a personal preference. Matte can look very soft and sophisticated while a gloss feels nice and smooth and gives your lips a more three-dimensional look.
Whether you prefer matte or gloss, Shine has you covered. For a nice matte look use Devoted LipLast or Fortunate lipstick. Daring lip liner smoothed over your entire lip will also give you a beautiful matte look.
If you prefer more of a shine, Bold or Sassy lip gloss creates a nice smooth glossy look. You will love the non-tacky smooth formula that lasts for hours.
